Erin Goldson

Founder, The Vineyard Icon Awards

Martha's Vineyard isn't just a destination — it's home. Erin Goldson's family has gathered on the island for five generations. Her parents met and married on the Vineyard. Her father, Dr. Alfred Goldson, who chaired the cancer department at Howard University, was laid to rest there. Her nearly 99-year-old grandmother, Emily Robertson, lives on the island year-round. Erin's niece Shane and nephew Conrad represent the fifth generation — a living legacy woven into the island's soil.

Erin is a 15-year brand marketing executive who built her career at Unilever, one of the world's largest consumer goods companies, leading strategy, marketing, public relations, events, and influencer programs. A graduate of Howard University (Class of 2016), she brought the same executive precision that shaped global campaigns to bear on a deeply personal vision: honoring the people who make the Vineyard extraordinary.

Her goal is simple — give back to a place that has given her so much, and amplify the stories and legacy of those who inspire her.

Erin self-funded the inaugural Vineyard Icon Awards from her personal savings, taking a grassroots approach rooted in conviction. She assembled a network of elite sponsors, recruited extraordinary honorees, and executed a 300-person gala at Farm Neck Golf Club — without a single outside investor. The event featured custom hydrangea-inspired design by Endless Flair's Ieasha James and was emceed by CNBC anchor Frank Holland.

Beyond the inaugural gala, Erin has announced the Vineyard Icon Foundation — a 501(c)(3) dedicated to scholarships — and the Vineyard Icon Next Gen Summit, a mentorship initiative for 50 emerging icons. She is building an institution, not just an event.

"As a young girl, I admired my family as if they were icons. They were relatable with one another, held in high regard, and taller than I was."
